  • India and China is one of the oldest systems of traditional medicine, known as Sowa-Rigpa, which has similarities with Ayurveda.India sought recognition of the ancient medicinal tradition as its intangible cultural heritage.
  • Sowa-Rigpa Sowa-Rigpa is a traditional Tibetan system of medicine practiced in India.
  • It is popular in Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, West Bengal’s Darjeeling, Himachal Pradesh.

  • Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated the National Tribal Craft Mela – 2019 in Bhubaneswar.

  • Uttar Pradesh government launches a massive immunization campaign against the filariasis or Filaria.
  • The Central government has the set year 2021 as the deadline for complete eradication of filaria in the country.
  • The campaign of more than 65 thousand teams of health workers will distribute medicines to around 6.5 crore people till 10 December in 19 districts.
  • The Health and Family Welfare Minister Jai Pratap Singh at present, there are 1.25 lakh cases of filaria in these 19 districts.

  1. Alternative Water Route to the North-East will boost Economic Development in the Region
  • Minister of State for Shipping (I/C) and Chemicals & Fertilizers, Shri Mansukh Mandaviya, a protocol on Inland Water Transit and Trade (PIWTT) exists between India and Bangladesh since 1972.
  • There are specified inland water routes and an equal number of Ports of call in each country for Exim trade through the Inland Water Transport (IWT).
  • The protocol is valid up to 05th June 2020 with a provision of automatic renewal after five years.

  • There is no single rhino of the Sumatra species in Malaysia has left. The last female rhinoceros named Iman died recently due to cancer.
  • Two-horned Sumatra Rhinos were once found throughout Asia, including India.
