  • Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas and Steel, Dharmendra Pradhan addressed the Ministerial Meeting of Global Forum on Steel Excess Capacity in Tokyo.

  1. India and Ecuador ink Protocol to start trade negotiations
  • India and South American nation Ecuador inked the Protocol for Completion of the Joint Feasibility Study (JFS) between the two countries, in line with the government’s efforts to expand its trade presence in the region.

  • Ladakh administration is organizing the first-ever Ladakh Literature festival. The 3-day Literature Festival is being organized from 29 to 31 October 2019.
  • The first-ever Ladakh Literature festival aims to celebrate the uniqueness of the region in the fields of Art, Culture and Literature.
  • There will be screenings of Ladakhi films, discussions on Heritage and presentations on History and Archeology of Ladakh, during the festival.
  • To provide an opportunity to children, youth and women to participate in the 3 Day Ladakh Literature Festival several competitions and events like Calligraphy, Culinary art are also incorporated.
  1. Yogi Adityanath launches single helpline number 112 in Uttar Pradesh
  • The Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh to launch a new integrated emergency number 112 for police, medical and fire emergencies, and also the women helpline 1090. The new number 112 will replace the 100 number.
  • The single number for emergency services is similar to 911 in the US. This facility will be launched by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
  • The Emergency Response Support System (ERSS) envisages a single pan-India emergency number 112, which is an internationally.


  1. Karnataka wins Vijay Hazare Trophy 2019-20
  • Karnataka has won the 2019-20 Vijay Hazare Trophy. Karnataka defeated Tamil Nadu by 9 wickets in the finals of Vijay Hazare Trophy at Bengaluru.
  • Karnataka won their 4th Vijay Hazare Trophy title with a dominant display against Tamil Nadu. Abhimanyu Mithun took a hat-trick in the summit clash.

  • Senior BJP leader Manohar Lal Khattar was sworn in as the chief minister of Haryana for second straight time, with the support of Dushyant Chautala led Jannayak Janta Party.
  • Dushyant Chautala took oath as deputy chief minister of Haryana. Governor administered him the oath of office and secrecy at a function at Raj Bhavan in Chandigarh.

  1. P S Sreedharan Pillai is new Mizoram governor
  • BJP leader P.S. Sreedharan Pillai appointed Governor of Mizoram. The 65-year-old Pillai headed the Kerala unit of BJP.
  • The appointment was made by President Ram Nath Kovind. Pillai’s meeting will take effect from the date he assumes charge of his office.
  • In other appointments made, Girish Chandra Murmu was appointed as the first Lt Governor of Jammu and Kashmir and Radha Krishna Mathur as the first Lt Governor of Ladakh.
