  1. Indian Railways to convert 200 saloons into 10 tourist trains to be run by IRCTC
  • Indian Railways decided to convert 200 saloons into ten luxury tourist trains to be run by the IRCTC in a bid to regulate the use of the colonial era-style carriages and generate additional revenue for the national transporter.
  • The inspection cars to be exclusively used by railway officials to visit far-flung areas, these saloons comprise two bedrooms, a lounge, a pantry, a toilet, and a kitchen that are built to facilitate the stay for up to five days.


  1. China Russia Pakistan call for early resumption of US-Taliban peace talks
  • The Representatives of Pakistan, China, and Russia called on the US and the Taliban to return to the negotiation table at the earliest and reach an agreement.
  • Aim: To end the 18-year long war in Afghanistan.
  • The discussion in this regard held during the four-party consultations between representatives of US, China, Pakistan, and Russia on the Afghan peace process.

  1. Tata Sons board okays 6,500 cr equity infusion in Tata Motors
  • Tata Motors Ltd its board approved an equity infusion of 6,500 crores from its promoter Tata Sons Pvt. Ltd.
  • Tata Motors will allot ordinary shares and warrants to the developer in return, subject to shareholder approval.
  • The board approved raising 3,500 crores via external commercial borrowing, which will be used to refinance its existing debt.
  • The total debt stands at around 50,000 crores, of which 20,000 crore is in its stand-alone business.

  • Indian Overseas Bank and Universal Sompo General Insurance have launched co-branded health care plus insurance for users.
  • Universal Sompo General Insurance Company Limited, Headquartered in Mumbai, is India’s first Public – Private Partnership in General Insurance Industry.
  • It is a private public joint venture in general insurance where two nationalized banks, namely Allahabad Bank and Indian Overseas Bank, one private sector bank namely Karnataka Bank Ltd, one FMCG namely Dabur Investment Corp and a leading general insurer from Japan namely Sompo Japan Nipponkoa Insurance.
